Artist And Album Information:"There's a good reason why the new record is called Scars," says Felix Buxton. "Making it has been a gruelling process. When we finished recording, it felt like we'd come out of a boxing ring." His bandmate Simon Ratcliffe nods in agreement. "Sometimes it felt like we were boxing ourselves and giving ourselves the scars," he adds. "Lots of things changed, both in our personal lives and the world around us, and sometimes we felt a bit lost."Tough times, but they say a bit of hardship is good for the creative juices, and it's certainly true in this case. Basement Jaxx's fifth album is a return to the kind of form that saw them blow dance music apart in the late '90s/early '00s, with tracks such as Red Alert, Romeo and Where's Your Head At. Scars features an impressive roll call of guest vocalists, including Philadelphia MC Santigold, burlesque dancer-turnedpop starlet Paloma Faith, lesbian rappers Yo Majesty, Black And Gold singer Sam Sparro and the legendary Yoko Ono.
