Details: Amazon.ca It's a good bet that Busta Rhymes would run a mile in his custom-made suit if he got just a whiff of anarchy around his ass: Behind the apocalyptic facade of his fourth album is the usual 20-plus rounds of pumped-up, ego-massaging jams. He may have street cred but listening to an album's worth of Busta is still like having someone shout in your ear for over an hour. The subtlety of his rhymes is lost in a spray of amplified verbals. The production on Anarchy is periodically inventive, at other times just a blur of blunted beats. "Street Shit" has a rubbery bass spring like a runaway space hopper. Producer Just Blaze repeats the same trick on the obligatory Flipmode posse cut, "Here We Go Again", which is enlivened by Rah Digga's invigorating mic turn. "Salute Da Gods!" is based around a feel-good slice of the Stylistics ivory-tinkling "Betcha By Golly Wow". In contrast, the irritating "Get Out" follows Jay-Z's lead with a cutesy children's chorus while Busta makes like a party pooper. Lenny Kravitz trots out some squealing blasts of fret masturbation on "Make Noise"; M.O.P. join the shouting match on the all-too-soulful battle chant "Ready For War", and DMX adds his dumbed-down bounce to the closer, "Ready To Die". The question for Busta is where does it go after Anarchy? The resurrection of a New World Order with Busta as the barking-mad general?
