So, in the 1990s, there was Barry's Big Band album (there was a tour with a token big band, then all the proper Manilow songs), and Summer of '78, an excellent collection of 1970s love song covers, none of which are any more worthwhile than their original (though "When I Need You" sounds great, and "Sometimes When We Touch" is beautifully done), but which make a rewarding collection as a package.
